This young boy was like all boys of his age – loads and loads of energy. So we put his energy to good use and sent him off on various tasks around the park, near to where we were doing our rural family photoshoot. That way it kept him from getting bored and allowed him to run around. This meant we were able to create some loving photos of this young boy with his parents later on.

Many family photos are worth doing twice
Posted on…especially if it gets the kids really involved and enjoying themselves more, as it often means the ‘better’ photos will look more natural, because your children feel more relaxed (and the funny versions are great for a family photo album).
We’ll let the kids enjoy themselves on a photoshoot
Posted onGreat family portrait photos only come from happy children, so we’ll do everything we can to get down to their level and talk to them, as well as encourage them to just be themselves and show us their personalities.
Mum and her son in the studio
Posted onA big bright white background, with mum and her son wearing stronger, dark colours makes for a set of lovely, contemporary family portrait photos that look fabulous as beautiful artwork on the wall.
Attention!
Posted onThis was such a natural photo – no one asked the young boy to do it – he had his very own sword and was determined to stand on guard alongside the Life Guard outside Horse Guards Parade in London.
Just look at the expression on the soldier’s face – on the first photo he’s unsure what to do, probably never having had such a situation before. Then on the second photo, when the boy marches away, you can see the soldier desperately trying to hold back a smile.
Daddy’s boy
Posted onThis is a lovely candid photo of a boy staring into his dad’s eyes. It was important here to darken the background as much as possible, so that we concentrate on the boy’s face. It’s a lovely photo that really captures that love between father and son. And it’s so much better without the young boy looking into the camera.
Natural outdoor family portrait of a group of cousins
Posted onThis was an outdoor portrait session of a group of cousins together. They didn’t often meet as a group, so the parents wanted a photo that caught them all together, but in a setting that was as natural as possible. We went to a nearby field and got them to fool around for a few minutes until they were feeling right at home in front of the camera.
