Having fun during an outdoor family photoshoot

Posted on

There’s no point in having a photoshoot for children unless they enjoy it – if they don’t, then they won’t look relaxed in the photos. Helping them get comfortable allows us to create some great natural expressions that are so much more natural than they’d have been otherwise. If they start playing around it’s even better as their character naturally shines through – it’s these little things that parents want to remember.

Simple portraits really are the best

The simplest portrait photos are often the best, as is the case here. We wanted a photo that was free of any distractions, with a clear background. This means there’s nothing to distract the viewer’s attention and it lets your eye focus on the person. It’s a lovely natural expression of this young girl.

Outdoor family photoshoot in a rural location

A trip into the grounds of a country house near Henley allowed us to create some lovely outdoor portraits. The weather was dry, but quite stormy, which made for a great sky in the background. In our Experience Photoshoots, we always aim to allow time for children to have some fun and to be themselves, as we know the photos will be so much better (and they’ll enjoy themselves so much more).

Bluebells and Winnie the Pooh

Late spring is ‘Bluebell Time’ in the woods, so on one fine spring day we did a family photoshoot in a field of beautiful bluebells. We could have set up this photos in a more staged way, but instead we thought the addition of Winnie the Pooh was a great idea, as it was this young girl’s favourite toy at this stage of her life. Every time her parents look back at this photo over the years to come it will bring back all of those memories of that time in their lives and what their daughter was like at that time.

Daddy’s boy

This is a lovely candid photo of a boy staring into his dad’s eyes. It was important here to darken the background as much as possible, so that we concentrate on the boy’s face. It’s a lovely photo that really captures that love between father and son. And it’s so much better without the young boy looking into the camera.

First birthday studio photoshoot

Posted on

This was a studio photoshoot on a young girl’s first birthday. For the first part of the session we got everyone relaxed by messing around a little bit. The aim wasn’t to get any great photos, but to put everyone at ease to make the later ‘proper’ photos work out much better.

Although ‘Miss Small Person’ tried her best to pop the balloon with her finger nails, we eventually managed to create some beautiful photos of this first birthday celebration.

Beautiful photos of a young girl

These beautiful photos of a young girl were part of a studio portrait session. Both of these photos capture the lovely cheekiness snd cuteness of this young girl during this photoshoot in the studio. The first of these two was enlarged and displayed as wall art in their living room for several years for all to see.

Halloween fancy dress

Posted on

As Halloween approached we were asked to take some themed, seasonal portrait photos of a young girl wearing halloween-themed fancy dress. The pumpkin is a great accessory, as it says ‘Halloween’ immediately.

Although the Christmas photoshoot is the most common seasonal photoshoot, we’re beginning to find we find more families are choosing to have a Halloween Photoshoot. Now that Halloween has become so much more popular over recent years, families are keen to create some lasting Halloween memories with their children.
